I got a phone call from a friend last night telling me that she and her hubby are planning to spend a weekend at Monhegan Island this July, and they want us to go with them. I really don’t want to go; I’ve gone to Monhegan twice before and had a miserable time. I understand that lots of people think it is charming to take a ferry over rough water to a remote island that has no cars, and no electricity but every time I’ve gone there I absolutely hated it! I got seasick on the trip over, and I was bored to death when we got there. There is no form of entertainment there other than walking, biking, and reading! Not my idea of fun at all!

Wash out
Well, today was a total wash-out. It rained all day long, and the dog I’m pet-sitting didn’t seem to want to go outside at all, even to do his “duty.” I had to drag him outside using the leash and walk around with him until he did his thing. This is unusual; in good weather all I normally have to do is open the door to the fenced in yard and out he goes! He usually likes being outside quite a bit, running around the yard barking at the evil squirrels and the occasional deer that wanders by.
When it rains here, the mosquitoes are extra nasty. You would think that the rain would get them to settle down and hide under the leaves of the plants to stay dry, but no, the rain makes them even more aggressive and bloodthirsty! So I wasn’t too pleased about braving the mosquitoes while making the dog be outside! I hope tomorrow’s weather is nicer!
College friends reunion
Kelly has been talking about our annual “college roomies reunion” where we get together for a few days, hubbies, kids, et all and go someplace we’ve never been before. Someplace where we can reconnect and just relax and have some fun without the worries of our daily life routines that we have gotten into. We always have a great time together, so I am excited about seeing everyone again later this summer. She has already contacted our other roomies about this year’s reunion and is busy planning the gala event.
