One thing that I’ve noticed a lot of around here is that there seem to be a lot of stone benches in the local cemeteries.  I really didn’t think much of it until my mother-in-law asked me to take her to the cemetery one day to put flowers on her husband’s grave.  While we were driving through the cemetery, she was telling me how she had bought one of the memorial benches that we passed in honor of her husband.  I never could figure out why the bench was far away from her husband’s grave, though.  She said something about cemetery rules, but it still made no sense to me.

And when I go to the beautiful home and garden shows at the fairgrounds every year, I see that the professional landscapers always incorporate garden benches in their entries.  I think I’d really like to put a bench or two in my garden as well; they add a really nice touch to a garden.  It would be nice to be able to relax out in the garden, and not just be out there to dig in the dirt!
