Chinese Checkers

I learned how to play Chinese Checkers at my grandmother’s house as a very young girl. I never ran into anyone else that ever knew how to play the game so I was totally surprised when I was at my brother’s house for dinner with his growing family of five kids, with another on the way, when his 7 year old son brought out a board and asked me to play a game with him. It had been many a year since I had even seen a board, much less played a game, but it came back to me just as easy as can be and in no time I was jumping all over the board. I even managed to win the first game.

Of course my nephew couldn’t let me get away with that quick and easy win so he insisted that we play another game while waiting for dinner to be put on the table and he managed to beat my hind end pretty good that time. He left me with 6 marbles still on the board the little stinker. Too bad we didn’t get to play the third game as a tie breaker after dinner. It was all ready too late for him to stay up, what with school in the morning and all, so we have to wait until the next time I come over to see who is the better player at this point. Wish I knew some one else that played so that I could get some practice games in in the meantime.
