Take Out Tonight

We have not had Chinese take out food for supper for a while now, and I find that I am suffering from withdrawal pains! I love Chinese food and could easily eat it a couple of times a week. Tonight I am too tired and cranky to cook, so Chinese take out it is going to be! Orange Chicken along with their Premium Fried Rice sound perfect right about now.

My Baby Girl

The first time I became pregnant I was sure that I was going to have a boy. So when the big day came that we made the urgent and quick trip to the hospital and our daughter was born I was totally shocked, but of course thankful that she was healthy and was able to come home with us in no time. Unfortunately we had prepared for a little boy so we had to return some of the things we had bought as well as buy a bunch of girly stuff that turned out to be pretty fun actually. I had no idea how much fun it would be caring and dressing up a little girl.

I really wish that they had clothes like they have today for kids and these wonderful Australian fashion lines, that are shown in the video below are just too darned cute. It seems that anything you can even dream of is available and with the Internet bringing so much more to us all via the World Wide Web the selections seem to be endless. Sometimes just seeing cute little baby girl clothes makes me think of having another baby, but then I find myself somewhere where there is a crying baby and that urge leaves me – real quick like.

Free Money

Did you know that The National Institute of Small Business Grants and SCORE are two of the few non-profit organizations that are set up to assist the new entrepreneur with the tools that they need to get their business up and running.  They can help with good advice about setting up and running a business, how to find and apply for business grants, and even how to write a business plan.  The great thing about grants is that they don’t have to be repaid! I’m glad that there are organizations available to help the small businessman out there.  The marketplace is a very challenging one, and the entrepreneur needs all the help that they can get!

Sebago shoes

We just received an e-vite to come to a friend’s Fourth of July picnic that is being held at their camp, and we have been requested to wear “boat attire.” So here is my dilemma – do we show up to the party wearing navy blazers and captain’s hats? (If so, I’m going to need to find a source to buy boat shoes.) Infinity has a wide range of sebago shoes for both men and women. The fashion boat shoes come in both solid and bi-colored. If not, I’m thinking that we can just show up wearing visors, life jackets (ski-vest style of course – they are more comfortable) and bathing suits and flip flops.

Have you ever been invited to a theme party and been told to come wearing boat attire? If so, what did you wear? I don’t want to show up wearing the wrong thing and being the butt of the jokes for years to come! Maybe I’ll call my friend and ask for some more specific guidance. One of the questions will be “why are we doing this to begin with, did you buy a party boat?” Cruising around the pond on a pontoon boat and then watching the town fireworks from the water would be quite fun, don’t you agree?

Keep the freezer door shut

Last night after supper I went out to the garage to get one of the Skinny Cow individual ice cream cups that I had bought a couple of days ago. I was feeling the urge to have a little bit of ice cream, and I like the Skinny Cow brand for a lower calorie indulgence. When I opened the freezer door and reached in to the rack where the ice cream was I was mortified to find that the ice cream container was warm to the touch. As in melted completely! I grabbed the ice cream next to it. Warm. And the next, and the next, and the next.

Quickly I grabbed the insulated bag that I keep next to the freezer, and started pulling out the food that was still cold, putting them in the insulated bag. I paused for a moment to grab a nearby trash can, and then started to fill that with the melted and completely thawed and ruined foods. Fish sticks, french fries, hash browns, hot dogs, more ice cream, steaks, pork chops. All in all over a hundred dollars worth of food had to be thrown away.

Today I went grocery shopping to replace some of the food that I had to throw away. Fortunately the ice cream was on sale, so I bought some. Not as much, but some.
We definitely need to put a hasp latch on this freezer door; this happens too often. I am not amused.
