On The Move

People just don’t stay in one place anymore

The world is getting smaller every day it seems. The friends that I grew up with have all scattered around the globe. I am so glad that we have email and texting to keep in touch! I miss them all very much and love to hear from them and hear how they are doing, how their families are, who they are working for (or who is working for them!) and how life is treating them in general. Pictures are always a plus.

I do find myself nostalgic from time to time, wishing that we all still lived close together. I miss the great times we had together, the parties we had, the great group dates we went on. Oh dear, I’m depressing myself!

And don’t even get me started on all the wonderful things that Facebook and the other social networking sites. You won’t catch me anywhere near all that drama that is responsible for ruining so many relationships in so many ways and on so many levels. Thanks but no thanks, real life is difficult enough to handle just the way it is without everyone, everywhere knowing your business and everyone elses.

New Season Premiere of Game of Thrones

The HBO cable TV channel has some pretty smart programming people lately. The past couple of years they have shown many hit series. The current series that has my interest is Game of Thrones, based of the books called “A Song of Ice and Fire.” It is a fictional story from the days of castles, kings, knights and dragons. The premiere episode of the 3rd season is on tonight at 9:00 pm and I cannot wait to watch it!

Most of the actors and actresses are British or European, so the faces were new to me until I started watching other British shows movies, and now a whole lot of the Game of Thrones actors look very familiar from their other roles. If you have seen it, what do you think about the casting?

I wasn’t hip to the first season of Game of Thrones and only happened to come across a couple of the last episodes of season two, so I was just recently trying to figure out the story line. Thankfully, HBO ran a week of free movies and TV series last week, so I was able to watch the entire first season and second season of Game of Thrones – all 20 episodes. So now I am up to date and ready to watch the first episode of season three.

Season two was building up to a war between some of the 7 kingdoms and their grand finale was the battle, and what happened to the main characters of the winners and the losers. The battle had a couple of surprises, and I don’t want to spoil it for you, so I won’t say more about it.

If you have not watched Game of Thrones but you like knights in armor, black magic, dragons and kings, you can jump into the story now and catch up on the first two seasons later. As for me, every Sunday night for the next 10 weeks I’ll be watching HBO and the latest episode of Game of thrones. In fact, if they release the series on DVD, I will probably buy them – I like them THAT much!

Piano Man Song

When I was a child, I wanted to learn how to play this song on the piano. Mostly because my father used to entertain at various restaurants like Shakee’s Pizza by playing on their piano. The song always made me think of him. I think I did pretty good! I haven’t played the piano in many years; I miss that! Unfortunately this house isn’t large enough for a piano. Oh well, this video brings back a few fond memories of my father teaching me how to tickle the old ivories, and of me going to watch him perform on stage back in the good ol’ days!

Food Court – The Musical On YouTube

Can you imagine going to a mall, dealing with all the people and horrible customer service and then getting hungry, heading to the food court and grabbing a bite and all of a sudden a bunch of seemingly random people start singing and dancing? You got to love it! So funny – honestly if I could participate in an Improv Everywhere stunt I would be so tickled! I just missed one that if I had known about that I would have gladly traveled the hour drive to participate in last year. It was on the local news and then of course on Face Book and all over YouTube.

I found this on YouTube and it brought back the memory and made me laugh!

Tie Dye Fashions and Bongos For Sale

At the latest monthly meeting for the civic organization that I belong to, much of the talk was about the yearly “Yard Sale” that has given them such trouble in the past with making any profit from. Since I am still pretty much a new member of this wonderful organization I seem to always be raising my hand with questions, ideas, concerns, thoughts and suggestions, which I think a lot of the older members grow tiresome of my intrusions of their time each month. But that was the whole idea of me joining this community organization, which was to bring some much needed new blood and there is no holding me back!

The “Yard Sale” is going to be held on the Saturday of the Memorial Day weekend. We are going to try some different advertising, as well as some new vendors with some colorful and unique items to have displayed out front outside. I have convinced the Milky Way Tie Dye Store to set up there and they certainly have a great selection of bright colors that I think will attract a ton of people that would normally just drive on by. I am thinking of putting a sign with bongos for sale, with my old set of bongos that if some body really wants could take it home for a few bucks. Tie Dye and Bongos. I think it’s almost perfect. I’ve got a few things that I wouldn’t mind putting out on a table for the day.
