Last night my hubby and I went to eat dinner at the local Ruby Tuesday. I tried the new appetizer, Boston Barbecue chicken wings. It is served with ranch dressing and celery. Well, I didn’t eat the celery – I read an article recently about secrets waitresses won’t tell you, and it said that at least ten people handle the lemons and the celery sticks, so I don’t go near them with my mouth!

But I loved the chicken wings – they were delicious! I’ve spent at least an hour today looking on the Internet for the recipe to that barbecue sauce. Can’t find it! If you find it, please send it my way! I’d love to have it!

For about the past two months I’ve been buying a lot of strawberries at the grocery store. They seem to be relatively inexpensive, and I’ve really been enjoying slicing up several and putting them on top of my morning cereal. I’ve noticed that since I’ve been doing that, I don’t get as hungry as quickly as I do if I only have the cereal. That rather surprises me because I always felt that in order for a breakfast to stick to my ribs I needed to add protein. And I don’t think that there is any protein in strawberries! But from what I’ve read, strawberries are one of the “super foods” and knowing that I’m eating something that I really like that is good for me too, well…. That’s a great thing!

Today I decided to try a new recipe in my bread machine. It included oats, wheat flour, and overripe bananas. I had three overripe bananas and I didn’t feel like making my usual (but yummy) banana bread, so I looked in my bread machine cookbook and found the recipe. I measured and poured, and started the machine. It started its mixing cycle, and I decided to take a nap. When I woke up I realized that the bread should be ready. I went into the kitchen and saw that the machine had finished it’s baking cycle. Unfortunately, the machine had decided to break down during the early stage of the mixing cycle so I did not have anything that even resembled bread! Naturally I’m displeased that the machine has broken down – I don’t want to have to buy a new one! Very disaapointing. I’m just glad that it didn’t break down right before a fancy special dinner!

I’ve already got my eye on what machine I want to get to replace it, but I can’t afford it – I need to buy the dogs their flea & tick prevention medicine instead. GRRRRR….

I wanted to buy some carrot cake to serve for dessert for Easter Sunday, but when I went to the grocery store they were all sold out. I guess everyone had the same idea! I went to Wal-Mart to buy some, but they had decorated theirs so incredibly ugly I just couldn’t stand the thought of putting that thing on my table! So I bought some cookies, and a fruit tart, and some raspberry filled cake instead. The fruit tart was on sale for $5 off, and I’ve always wanted to try one, so I guess I’m happy enough on that point! I hope everyone has a great Easter, and has lots of good food to eat!

There really was a time when I could one-stop shop at a store in town. But the store that I try to shop at the most (because of prices) has stopped carrying many of my family’s favorite foods. So I have had to hunt around and see which stores have which products, and then try to go to some of those stores every couple of months and stock up.

Today I went to Martin’s to stock up on Reese’s peanut butter. It is the only store in town that seems to carry it! Martin’s is relatively new in town, so I walked around to see what else they sell that I have trouble finding. Miracle Whip fat free for instance! I was thrilled – I haven’t been able to find that for over a year! And B&M Baked Beans! And Wheatable crackers, low sodium Old El Paso taco seasoning too! Shadybrook turkey cutlets – wow!

Sadly there were many items that I couldn’t find there that I wanted, (for example Pepsi One and blueberry bread) so I guess I just have to learn to rotate what stores to go to every week. I’d like to just be loyal to one store, but I guess that just isn’t going to happen anytime soon!

Have you tried the new Domino’s pizza? I tried it a couple of days ago. I really enjoyed it a lot. It’s been years since the last time I had a pizza from Domino’s – in fact it was so long ago I remember getting some of those ‘Noid figures from them! The pizza was not very good then. But it has improved drastically. The only thing is that about an hour after I ate it i started getting bad stomach cramps that lasted for about twelve hours! I don’t know if it was a coincidence or not – maybe a stomach virus hit me? I don’t know. I figure I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt and try it again in a few days.

Thankfully I have no food allergies. But others in the family are not so lucky. My niece is having a terrible time with IBS and I’m beginning to think that it has to do with a food allergy. We are trying to keep track of what she eats and when she has the IBS attacks to see if there is any pattern. At the moment, I am concerned that she might be allergic to eggs. That would be really tough to eliminate from her diet. I hope it turns out to be something else.
