Bonnie’s birthday

Yesterday Jeff asked me to help him out.  He’s in a real bind.  His wife Bonnie has told him that she wants him to buy her some Vera Wang Perfume for her birthday.  He has been in a real tizzy since then because he has no idea where he can go to buy any Vera Wang Perfume.  So Jeff called me up and begged me to buy some for him to give her.  I asked him what in the world made him think that I would know where to go to buy Vera Wang Perfume?

His answer – because you always smell so good!  Well, I have to give him credit for being smart enough to come up with that good an answer!  I told Jeff that I really didn’t have time to shop for him around town, but I’d go online and see what bargains could be had.  I have quite the reputation in our social circle for being a savvy online shopper!  I told Jeff that he needs to find out which fragrance in particular Bonnie wanted, and to get back to me and let me know.  Once I know for sure which fragrance she wants, I’m sure I can find him a good deal!

Yoga mats

When I was encouraged by Lily to take some dance classes with her, she told me that the first ten minutes, and the last ten minutes of class involve doing yoga exercises on the floor I was hesitant to join the class. After all, I did not want to have to buy a yoga mat. I went to the first class, taking only a beach towel with me instead. It wasn’t very long after class started before I realized that if I am going to take any more classes with Lily I am going to have to buy one of the best thick yoga mats that I can afford. Doing yoga on a beach towel was very uncomfortable!

Shelves in the shed

Several years ago I bought a Rubbermaid storage shed for our back yard.  I asked my hubby to install it on a bed of gravel.  But he decided that he’d just put it on the ground.  As a result all of the shelves that I try to put on the walls keep falling down.  When we first put the building up and the installed the shelves, I was thrilled!  I filled the shelves with an assortment of garden tools and planters.

I was thrilled to be able to take my outdoor planters out of the basement and put them into the shed – it freed up valuable space inside. But I was quite annoyed a few short days later when I went out to the shed to pick out a decorative planter to put a new begonia in and found all of my garden supplies in a pile on the floor! I have tried many times to fix that problem, but the shelves just will not stay up! I guess the only solution is to put in free-standing shelving units and be done with it!  I think if my hubby had installed the shed correctly this wouldn’t be an issue!  But I always learn to make do, and I think that is the answer to the problem.

Itchy feet

I received some luggage as a gift from my hubby. He asked his sister to help him find a good deal on luggage and she told him to look into buying Tumi Luggage. To be perfectly honest, I had never heard of Tumi Luggage before, but who am I to look a gift horse in the mouth?

The biggest point of the gift, however, was the fact that inside the luggage was a travel brochure to Orlando, along with a couple of fake airplane tickets. I have to say that they were fake because he didn’t dare book a real trip without checking with me to see when I would be available to go on vacation with him. And we have to make arrangements for someone to look after his customers and our pets, and our gardens while we are gone. Anyway, it was a nice surprise, and now we need to buckle down and figure out the dates and work out the logistics of it all!

On The Move

People just don’t stay in one place anymore

The world is getting smaller every day it seems. The friends that I grew up with have all scattered around the globe. I am so glad that we have email and texting to keep in touch! I miss them all very much and love to hear from them and hear how they are doing, how their families are, who they are working for (or who is working for them!) and how life is treating them in general. Pictures are always a plus.

I do find myself nostalgic from time to time, wishing that we all still lived close together. I miss the great times we had together, the parties we had, the great group dates we went on. Oh dear, I’m depressing myself!

And don’t even get me started on all the wonderful things that Facebook and the other social networking sites. You won’t catch me anywhere near all that drama that is responsible for ruining so many relationships in so many ways and on so many levels. Thanks but no thanks, real life is difficult enough to handle just the way it is without everyone, everywhere knowing your business and everyone elses.
