I was just finished reading my email, and getting ready to shut down the computer for the night when I read an article that popped up on my screen about how the antidote for deadly coral snake bites is no longer being produced in the USA, and the current lot is expiring. Apparently the drug companies were not making enough of a profit, so they stopped manufacturing the antidote. I think that says a lot about the drug companies; more interested in making a profit than in saving lives. Shame on them!

One of the things that really bothers me when I watch the news is when I hear stories about how so many people take out high interest personal loans for frivolous things. Naturally my idea of “frivolous” is not going to be the same as someone else’s “frivolous.” To me, “frivolous” would fall into the “want to buy” category instead of the “need to buy” category. And for me, “want to buy” is anything that is not required for basic survival. This is always a controversial subject at my house! My hubby, for example, will tell me he “needs” a special part for his show truck. Well, I consider that a “want” and not a “need.” Because the show truck is a hobby, and does nothing to support the family!

We have had more than one argument over “needs” versus “wants” during our relationship, I can assure you of that! But I digress…. I see so many commercials on television that are trying to entice people to take out so-called payday loans to go out for a special date and how quick and easy it is to get these kinds of loans that it really scares me! In these hard economic times I really would encourage everyone to borrow responsibly and make absolutely SURE that you are going to be able to pay the loan off really fast! And try to use some kind of service like at moneynowusa.com that will compare the different loans available so that you can get the cheapest and most reasonable loan available.

The interesting news story of the day seems to be about the air traffic controller at JFK letting his kid talk to the pilots. Both the employee and the supervisor have been suspended over this. I understand why so many people are upset over this, but don’t you think a little bit of retraining might be in order here? Seems to me that the kid was just repeating what he was told to say, and adults were right there to correct the situation if the wrong directions were given out. I think suspension of the employees involved is a little bit harsher than necessary. Now to be honest, I don’t know if there are any written rules and regulations that were violated or not. But I think that retraining, not suspension, is a better course of action to take.

I usually don’t have to wait more than 5 minutes, unlike other pharmacies where you can wait over an hour.

The letter tells me that all of my prescriptions will be transferred to a different pharmacy. That sucks I don’t like that pharmacy and don’t like the idea of having to go there each month. Looks like I’ll have to start looking for a new pharmacy.

We are being told that we will be getting between 2 to 4 feet of some very cold and wet snow, so who knows what we will end up with.

It is becoming a big issue for our emergency personnel that are not being able to locate people in need of assistance. If your address plaque isn’t displayed correctly then it makes it hard for them to see if they are at the right place for the right emergency. Since this is an issue they are urging people to make sure that their address signs are highly visible, especially at night when it is harder to see anything. Some cities are making a big effort to have the house numbers painted on the curb, but that takes money and most governments are hurting for money and are trying to find ways to cut costs not put into place new ones.

I have been thinking that it is time for me to have a newer address sign, the one that I have in place right now isn’t too awfully bad but it could use an updated version that would look right nice on the front of the house. I’ve been looking online for different types of address plaques and have found several that I’d really like to get. Maybe my tax refund check can be used for a few things just like this for around the place, that would be nice. Just wish I could get all the paperwork together and go over to my sister’s house so that she can do my taxes for me again this year. I’m still waiting on two more items to come in the mail and off I will go. I have some big plans for that money.

Only got 6 inches of snow from yesterday’s snow storm that has everyone hunkered down today. The news is full of cancellations and closings and the streets are virtually empty. People had plenty of notice and actually took heed this time around and apparently were prepared and just hunkered down and waited it out. Most people will be back to work and school come tomorrow, until the next one that is scheduled to hit us this up and coming weekend.

The last snow storm we had really caught everyone by surprise and made us all sit up and take notice of exactly how hard Mother Nature can make life be if we don’t take the time the prepare for these types of storms.

One of the gals that I work with on the weekends was so excited and happy to announce that she has finally become pregnant, she and her husband have been trying for over 5 years to have a baby, so this is very good news indeed. We haven’t had any new babies at work in so very long. We love having positive things to celebrate and have fun with, engagements, weddings, babies, new vehicles, new homes, events such as these are a big to do there!

The last baby that I can remember was 3 years ago, it was Macina, she had a baby girl that we held a nice surprise baby shower for. The surprise effect was wonderful, we had a good time and she walked out with a nice load of baby supplies, a Full Featured Stroller, a sweet Baby Carrier, along many other large items that had to be taken to her house after work via another co workers pick up truck.

I imagine we will have a shower for the newest expectant mother and I’m sure Macina will be turning her onto a lot of hand me downs which will help out tremendously. Macina is currently looking into purchasing one of the new Booster Seats that her little girl is going to be needing to be riding in soon to keep her safe and in compliance with the law. We are lucky that we have access to the Internet at work, we do spend a good amount of time looking things up and discussing them during working hours. It’s a great way to learn things and to network with folks.

I’ve noticed a lot of people have been complaining about the economy. So many friends have lost their jobs. It is really quite scary. I keep hearing on the news that unemployment is going up or going down, but I know that the figures that they use are not reflective of the true unemployment picture. There are a lot more people out there that are unemployed. And that is a very scary thing. This Thanksgiving it is hard for a lot of people to be thankful. They are losing their jobs and their homes. And the social programs that are supposed to be helping them have so many hoops to jump through that it is very discouraging. Well, this Thanksgiving I have to say that we have to look harder for things to be thankful for. Like a meal on our plate and a home to live in. And a prayer that things improve sooner rather than later!
