Tie Dye Fashions and Bongos For Sale

At the latest monthly meeting for the civic organization that I belong to, much of the talk was about the yearly “Yard Sale” that has given them such trouble in the past with making any profit from. Since I am still pretty much a new member of this wonderful organization I seem to always be raising my hand with questions, ideas, concerns, thoughts and suggestions, which I think a lot of the older members grow tiresome of my intrusions of their time each month. But that was the whole idea of me joining this community organization, which was to bring some much needed new blood and there is no holding me back!

The “Yard Sale” is going to be held on the Saturday of the Memorial Day weekend. We are going to try some different advertising, as well as some new vendors with some colorful and unique items to have displayed out front outside. I have convinced the Milky Way Tie Dye Store to set up there and they certainly have a great selection of bright colors that I think will attract a ton of people that would normally just drive on by. I am thinking of putting a sign with bongos for sale, with my old set of bongos that if some body really wants could take it home for a few bucks. Tie Dye and Bongos. I think it’s almost perfect. I’ve got a few things that I wouldn’t mind putting out on a table for the day.

Please Recycle And Start Turning Green

I can’t believe that I let such a pile build up in my bedroom of junk, like old newspapers, magazines, the local Yellow Pages, old expired coupons and the like. I’m glad though that I do recycle and that all of these are paper products that can be recycled when I go into the part of town that has the recycling containers for the residences of this county to use. I wish that it wasn’t so far away and wasn’t on the side of town that is out-of-the-way for the majority of people to take advantage of. It is most unfortunate but most folks are still not participating in any type of recycling efforts at home or at work, and if you don’t make it easy for them then they just aren’t going to do a darned thing.

These days if I want to do local search for someone or some place all I have to do is go online to sites like local.com and I can find the local restaurants, pet stores, shoe stores, auto repair, etc with just a few clicks on my keyboard, so who needs the paper version of the phone book these days. Of course if you are still in the dark ages and don’t have Internet access you would still rely on the paper version, I just hope that when you are done with them that you would have the common sense and the decency to recycle them, just like I’m planning on doing. We all need to do what we can in order to be a “green” as possible these days and recycling is a big part of becoming “green” in today’s crazy world.

All The Spring Flower Catalogs In My Mailbox

It’s that time of year that my mailbox is starting to fill up with many catalogs from plant and seed catalogs. I love looking through them all, looking to see if there are any new and exciting plants that I could plant in my flower garden. I’m partial to perennials, and always mindful of deer resistant plantings.

As much as I enjoy gardening I really don’t want to spend hours and hours on planting something just to find out that the deer will be dinning on them before we even get a chance to enjoy the. One good reason why I’m especially fond of lilies, daffodils, and irises. Deer seem to leave them alone! And there are dozens of different types, styles, and colors of them all. It won’t be long now until I can start working on getting the soil ready, which is a lot of work but I don’t mind it one bit. I love getting my hands all in the dirt, and working hard. I sleep so much better at night after spending several hours outside with all the yard work and gardening, and I get a good dose of Vitamin D while I’m out there in the fresh air and sunshine. It’s all good

Relocating For Job In Graphic Design in Virginia

The good news is that my favorite niece has just landed a job, in her chosen and preferred field, in graphic design in Virginia. The bad news is that she will be moving far away and she is 4 months pregnant. I am happy that she is going to be doing something that she loves and has worked very hard at, but I am totally depressed to think that I won’t play as big of a role in the new baby’s life as I was expecting and looking for to doing.

I just love babies and there really aren’t any “babies” in the family right now. Don’t get me wrong there are numerous family members that certainly act like babies and many that are treated like babies, but that is a whole other story for some other time. Right now I’m trying to deal with the fact that she (mother and baby) will be far away and I’ll only see them a few times a year, if that….

Not Happy With Hallmark

It was bad enough to have gone into our local Hallmark Store during the first week of August and finding them putting up their Christmas ornaments, but now on the Hallmark Channel they are showing commercials for their up and coming Christmas themed movies. This is just ridiculous and I’m seriously thinking of contacting them and giving them a ear full. There is plenty of time for all the Christmas junk, there is just no need for this kind of advertising while it is still Summer!
